# Plans and prompt limits

> What each plan includes, how your prompts are counted across projects, and what happens when you reach the limit.

Every plan asks every question once a day, on every engine the project tracks. What changes between plans is how many questions you can track, how many competitors each project can follow, and how much AI crawler traffic we keep.

## The plans

| Plan | Prompts, across the workspace | Competitors per project | AI crawler visits kept a month |
| - | - | - | - |
| Starter | 25 | 5 | 1,000,000 |
| Growth | 50 | 5 | 4,000,000 |
| Scale | 200 | 10 | 10,000,000 |
| Agency | 1,000 | 5 | 25,000,000 |

On every plan:

* Every question is asked daily. There is no slower cadence to choose.
* The three default engines, ChatGPT, Google AI Overview and Perplexity, collect for every project.
* Gemini, Google AI Mode and Claude Haiku can be switched on once your subscription is paid. See [Engines and opt-ins](https://docs.citino.ai/guides/account/engines.md).
* The API and the MCP server are available.

A new workspace starts on a trial with the Growth plan's limits, whether it is a brand or an agency. Extra engines cannot be switched on during the trial.

## How prompts are counted

Your plan's prompts are **one pool for the whole workspace**. A second project, or an agency's tenth client, draws on the same allowance rather than getting its own.

* **Every active question counts**, whatever it asks.
* **An archived question does not.** Archiving, which is done through the [API](https://docs.citino.ai/api/writes.md), frees its slot and keeps its history readable.
* **Re-wording a question uses one slot**, not two: the new wording takes the place of the old.
* **Citino's own questions about your brand do not count.** Project settings says so beside them: "They don’t count toward your plan."

A brand workspace shows the count at the foot of the rail, as **Prompts** used **of** your limit. The Prompts screen and Add prompt show the same count. In an agency workspace the foot of the rail counts client seats instead; adding a client does not use one.

## Reaching the limit

When every slot is in use, Add prompt says so and keeps your draft. You have two ways on:

* **Archive a question you are not reading**, through the [API](https://docs.citino.ai/api/writes.md). Its history stays, and the slot is free at once.
* **Move to a bigger plan.** [Write to us](https://docs.citino.ai/guides/help/contact.md).

If you move to a smaller plan, questions above the new limit are paused, newest first. Nothing is deleted: their history stays readable.

## Competitors

Each project can track up to its plan's number of competitors. At the limit, adding one is refused with the reason: remove a competitor first, from Project settings or the Brands screen. Removing a competitor keeps its history.

## API and MCP limits

The same on every plan:

| Limit | Value |
| - | - |
| Requests a minute, per API key | 60 |
| Requests a minute, per workspace (every key together) | 120 |
| Requests a minute, per signed-in app (Claude, ChatGPT) | 60 |
| Rows per page, lists | 100 |
| Rows per page, reports | 200 |
| What one report page counts as, against the limits above | 10 requests |
| Brands report without `date`: the most prompt-engine-days | 18,000 (9,000 with `segment`) |
| Domains and URLs reports without `date`: the most prompt-engine-days | 4,200 (2,100 with `segment`) |
| The longest window, with `date` as a dimension | 366 days |
| Report rows × prompts in scope, per page | 20,000 |

[Rate limits](https://docs.citino.ai/api/rate-limits.md) explains how the two per-minute limits work together.

## Billing

There is no Billing page in the app yet; the **Billing** item in the rail is greyed out. Plans, invoices and changes are arranged with us directly. [Contact us](https://docs.citino.ai/guides/help/contact.md) to choose a plan, change one or ask about Enterprise engines.
