# Glossary

> Every term the app explains with its ? button, in the same words.

Every definition below is the same sentence the **?** beside that term shows in the app.

### ±

How far the true number could reasonably be from the one shown. It is wide when there are few answers or few questions behind it, and narrows as more come in.

### AI sessions

Visits to your website that came from an AI engine, as reported by Google Analytics.

### AI sessions by source

Visits from each AI engine, and what they converted into.

### Answers

Every answer the AI engines gave to your questions, in full and exactly as we stored it.

### answers reading a source you can influence

The share of answers that read at least one site you could do something about: a review site, a list, a directory, a community, a publication or your own site. Competitors’ own sites are not counted.

### brands it names

The brands named in answers that read this site, and in how many of those answers.

### brands named

How many different brands the AI engines named in these answers.

Every brand this answer mentions, in the order it mentions them.

### by landing page

The pages AI visitors landed on, and how many of those visits we could trace to a question.

### cadence

How often we ask your questions. Every question is asked once a day.

### Ceiling

Every visit this question could explain. Questions can share visits, so ceilings are never added up.

### channels

Where alerts are sent besides this page. Every alert is recorded here either way.

### Cited

How many answers showed this site as a source the reader can click. A site can be read without being cited.

The share of answers that showed this site as a source the reader can click. A site can be read without being cited.

### Claimed

A segment you have said you compete in. Only claimed segments count towards your scores; the others are shown for context, unscored.

### Competitor baseline

The median change across the competitors you track, over the same questions and the same days. It is roughly what would have happened to you anyway.

### competitors

The brands you compare yourself with. They are tracked on every screen and in your alerts.

### Confidence

How sure we are that these visits came from this question. It is lower when the link rests on only a few citations.

### conversions

AI visits that went on to complete the goal you track in Google Analytics.

### coverage

The share of AI visits we could trace back to one of your questions. The rest still count; we just cannot say which question sent them.

### CVR

Conversion rate: the share of visits that converted.

### Demand

How often buyers ask this, estimated from search demand.

### Effort

How much work we expect it to take.

### Est. revenue

The revenue from this question’s visits, estimated from what Google Analytics reports for the pages it sends people to.

### evidence

The websites the answers behind this gap read before deciding who to name. The ones you chose are the plan of work; the rest stay here, so you can see why it was suggested.

### Facets

Another way to slice the same questions: by the angle they are asked from rather than by topic. A muted chip has too few questions to read anything into.

### First retrieved

The first day any answer read this page, ever. It is not limited to the period you picked.

### Floor

Visits only this question can explain: the least it is responsible for.

### Impact

Our estimate of how many percentage points of visibility this could add. It is an informed guess from past answers, not a promise.

### Intent

What the buyer is trying to do with this question, such as discover options, compare tools or check pricing.

### Last seen

The most recent day an answer read this page.

### Leader

The brand named most often in these answers.

### low sample

This number rests on only a few answers, so read it as an early signal rather than a settled result. It firms up as we collect more each day.

### market and engines

The country we ask from and the AI engines we ask. Each engine is asked every question.

### Most named

The brand named in the most answers to this question.

### n

How many answers a number is based on. The more answers, the more you can trust it.

### Named ahead of you

The brands named more often than yours in the answers to this question, most often first.

### named more often when read

How much more often you are named in answers that read this site than in answers that do not, over the last 30 days. It is a pattern in past answers, not proof that being listed there causes it: only a published change, measured afterwards, shows that.

### Net effect

Your change minus the competitor baseline: the part of the move that was yours. If it is larger than its ± range, the change worked or hurt; if not, we cannot tell yet.

### not estimated

Items we cannot yet put a number on, because there is not enough evidence to say how much they would move you. They are still worth a look; they just cannot be ranked.

### not named on

Of your questions whose answers read this site, how many have not named you once in this period.

### Owner

Who on your team is responsible for it.

### Position when named

When an answer names you, where you appear in its list on average. 1 means you were named first, so lower is better.

### Prompts

How many of your questions sit in this segment. Each one is asked on every AI engine every day.

How many of your questions had at least one answer that read this site.

### prompts where it is read

Your questions whose answers read this site, with your visibility on each.

### recent alerts

What the rules found, newest first. A change small enough to be chance never raises an alert.

### retrieval

When the engines first and most recently read this site.

### Retrieved

How many answers read a page from this site while writing the answer.

The share of answers that read a page from this site while writing the answer, out of the answers whose engine tells us what it read.

### Revenue

The value of those conversions, as Google Analytics reports it.

### rules

The changes we watch for on your behalf. When one happens, it appears under Recent alerts.

### Segments

The groups your questions are sorted into, usually by product line or use case. Your scores count only the segments you have claimed.

Which of your segments this question belongs to.

### segments

Tick the segments you compete in. Your scores count only the questions in ticked segments.

### Sentiment when named

When an answer names you, how favourably it describes you, on a scale from 0 (negative) to 100 (positive).

### Setup

A few one-time steps that make these numbers more useful. None of them holds up collecting answers.

### Share of voice

Of all the brand mentions in those answers, the share that were you. When an answer names five brands, each gets a fifth of it.

### Since

The first day we asked this question. A newer question has less history behind its numbers.

### sources

The web pages this answer drew on. They are the pages to influence if you want the answer to change.

### sources read

Every website the engines read while answering your questions, grouped by whether you can do something about it.

### Status

Where the item is, from open through published to measured.

### the change

How much this moved since the previous period of the same length, in percentage points. “Within noise” means the move is smaller than the ± range, so it could be chance.

### the pages the engines read

The websites the engines read while answering your questions. Being listed on these is the fastest way in.

### the questions being asked

The questions we ask the AI engines every day on your behalf, phrased the way a buyer would ask them.

### the scope

Which questions, segments, days and AI engines the numbers on this screen are counted over. Change the filters and every number here changes with them.

### the visibility league

Every brand named in the answers to your questions, ranked by visibility. Your own brand is highlighted.

### Top losing prompts

The questions where you are furthest behind the brand named most. They are usually the best place to start.

### Tracking

Tracked brands are the competitors you follow across every screen and alert. The rest are here because the engines named them.

### traffic by prompt

What each question’s traffic was worth, as a range from floor to ceiling, beside the traffic no question explains.

### Visibility

Of all the answers we collected, the share that named you. 40% means you were named in 4 of every 10 answers.

The share of answers to this question that named you, and how many answers that is. A single question has no ± range; ranges are worked out across many questions.

### visibility by model

Your visibility on each AI engine separately. Engines read different websites, so you can be strong on one and missing from another.

Each brand’s visibility on each AI engine separately.

### Visibility over time

Your visibility and your competitors’, day by day, so you can see who is gaining ground and who is losing it.

### what moved

Only the changes big enough to be real rather than chance. If nothing is listed, nothing moved by more than its ± range.

### what the engines read

Every website the AI engines read while answering your questions, each sized by how many answers read it. An answer that read three sites counts once for each, so reads add up to more than answers.

### where to show up first

The sites you can do something about that the engines read most, and whether you are listed on each. Getting onto these is the most direct way to be named more often.

### where you land

Of the answers that named you, how many named you first, second, third or later. Being named first is worth more than being named fourth.

### which days count

Before is the period before you published. After starts the day an engine first reads your page, not the day you published it, so the days in between count for neither.

### who the engines name instead

The brands the AI engines named in answers to your questions so far.

### work items

Things worth doing to get named more often, each from questions you are losing. Ranked by how much each should move your visibility.

### Your change

How much your visibility on this segment's questions moved, from before you published to after, in percentage points.

### your pages

The pages of your own website the engines read, and how often they went on to cite them.

### your presence

Whether you are listed on this site. Getting listed on the sites the engines read is the most direct way to be named more often.

### your prompts

The questions we ask the AI engines every day on your behalf, phrased the way a buyer would ask them. A question is never edited, only replaced, so its history stays comparable.

### your rank

Your place among all the brands named, ordered by visibility.

### your site

Where your own website ranks among every site the engines read, by how many answers read it.
