# Citino docs

> How Citino measures your brand in AI answers, every screen explained, and the API and MCP server.

Every day, Citino asks ChatGPT, Google AI Overview and Perplexity (and the other AI engines your plan includes, if you turn them on) the questions buyers in your market ask, and shows you which brands they name, where in the answer, and which sources they read.

>
> What each number means, every screen in the app, and how answers are collected.

> [card] [API reference](https://docs.citino.ai/api/introduction.md)
>
> Pull your figures, report rows and answers into your own code, and keep your prompts and competitors in step from a script.

>
> Ask about your workspace in plain language from Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code or Cursor.

## Your first request

Make a key on **Workspace settings → API keys**, put it in the `CITINO_API_KEY` environment variable, and list the projects it can read.

```bash curl theme={null}
curl https://api.citino.ai/v1/projects -H "Authorization: Bearer $CITINO_API_KEY"
```

```python Python theme={null}
import os
import requests
key = os.environ["CITINO_API_KEY"]
response = requests.get(
    "https://api.citino.ai/v1/projects",
    headers={"Authorization": f"Bearer {key}"},
)
response.raise_for_status()
for project in response.json()["items"]:
    print(project["id"], project["name"])
```

```javascript JavaScript theme={null}
const response = await fetch("https://api.citino.ai/v1/projects", {
  headers: { Authorization: `Bearer ${process.env.CITINO_API_KEY}` },
});
if (!response.ok) throw new Error(`Citino answered ${response.status}`);
const { items } = await response.json();
for (const project of items) console.log(project.id, project.name);
```
